About Us

Mission Statement

We at Scoil Bhríde encourage our children to reach their full potential- social, emotional, moral, spiritual and intellectual- in a caring, friendly and safe environment.

School Philosophy

This is a small, mixed rural school under Catholic Management in West Connemara. It has two class teachers and a shared Special Education Teacher(s).

Our school is a place where children are respected, valued and supported. It aims to nurture the child in all the dimensions of his/her life-spiritual, moral, cognitive, emotional, imaginative, aesthetic, social and physical. It celebrates the uniqueness of each child’s personality, intelligence and potential for development.

Our school accepts that the parents are the primary educators of their children. Our school values and encourages the active participation of parents in school planning and all aspects of their children’s education.

Our school fosters a spirit of openness and cooperation between pupils, staff, parents, Board of Management and the local community. While recognising and respecting peoples’ right to different beliefs, it is the policy of this school to nurture Catholic Values.

The School in the Locality

No school exists in a vaccum. The children coming to school come from families, most of whom have lived in this locality for generations.

It is the policy of this school that on leaving the school pupils should have an understanding and appreciation of their locality. The pupils shall have an understanding of organisations working for the benefit of the community e.g. church and sporting organisations.

The pupil shall be encouraged to appreciate and understand their unique environment and the need for protection and conservation of that environment.
